Breaking:Democrats Unveil New Parliamentary Maneuver on Healthcare Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – Democrats in the House of Representatives have been taking heat this week for their proposed use of a parliamentary maneuver known as “Deem and Pass,” which would allow them to vote on both the Senate health care reform bill and the reconciliation fixes simultaneously. In a surprising move, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced, earlier today, that her caucus was abandoning “Deem and Pass” in favor of a new strategy.

“If Republicans are so concerned, now, with parliamentary procedure,” Pelosi told reporters,” let’s see what they do when we ‘Tear the Roof Off the Sucker.’”

She went on to explain that the move would involve whipping 216 Democratic votes to indicate that they “want the funk.”

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stopped short of endorsing the plan, but was quick to push back against Republican criticism. “Our friends on the other side of the aisle had no problem using ‘The Roof is on Fire’ in order to pass Medicare D, so their current qualms ring a little bit hollow.”

Republican Minority Leader John Boehner was quick to point out that in that case, Republicans did not actively destroy the roof, but simply showed fiscal restraint in not appropriating any water, and letting it burn.
